John Krayenhagen was born in Holstein, Germany. His Parents brought him to the United States from Germany when he was seventeen years old (1882), so he would not have to go through the same hardships. He was naturalized in 1886.
They had nine children; seven are in this photo; Art and Chris in rear, Margaret A., Malinda, Anna, and John in middle, August, Ernest, and Arthur in front. John Jr. The first of the children shown here with his father John at a hog butchering, with August and Ernest looking on.
Child number nine; Alvin Krayenhagen; was born on February 15, 1910; in Hamphshire, Clinton County, Iowa. Sadly he died on May 11, 1910 from Pneumonia, and was buried in Dierks Cemetery Hamphshire Township, Clinton County, Iowa
