Frank Williams
Frank Williams, age 89, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 2, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Skate Palace in Ida Grove, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. Pastor Rose Visser will officate the service, with burial to follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion. Friends may call at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove on Saturday from noon - 8 p.m .
Born December 31, 1925 in Galva, Iowa, Rolland Frank Williams was the son of Glen C. and Mrytle (Jones) Williams. He graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1944, then served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his tour of duty, Frank returned to Iowa where he worked for Godbersen-Smith Construction Company in Ida Grove for a time before returning to the Marine Corps for several additional years of service. he then resumed employment at Godbersen-Smith, where he continued working until the time of his death. Frank was a fixture at the company, and was well known within the industry and throughout the area for the dedication and commitment he devoted to his life's work.
On February 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Irene Krayenhagen at the Church of God in Ida Grove. The couple made their home in Ida Grove where they raised their family of four daughters.
Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove and was a very active member of McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion. He served as CEO on the Board of Skate Palace where he spent many hours supervising and maintaining the facility. He enjoyed working and gardening, and especially appreciated time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Deb and Randy Suggitt of Sioux City, Kathy and Ed Petersen of Ida Grove, Lesa and Brian Sahl of Arthur, and Barb and Earl Lindgren of Ida grove: ten grandchildren, Chad (Tracy) DeRocher, Collin Suggitt, Zach (Katrie) Montgomery, Charlie Montgomery, and fiancee Rachel, Nathan (Dwan) Sahl, Katie Lindgren and fiance Nick, Stacey DeRocher and special friend Todd, Heather (Terry) King, Christy Large, and Tonya (Mickey) Conard: and twelve great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene: his parents: a great-granddaughter, Paige Williams: four brothers, Dean, Dale, Ray, and Alan Williams; and a sister, Donna Stapleton.
